The first track I wrote for the EP. The title provides a kind of irony (or perhaps prescience?) - I wrote it in Kyiv before the Russian invasion.

As the first composition, I was figuring out what I could do to create a balance of comfort and unease. In this case, I purposefully made the rhythms between the hands not quite match in some places, while keeping the chords sounding pleasing. The synth strings add to the sense of unease when they enter, but the overall feeling is comfortable.

As a composer, I take a lot of influence from soundtracks - in particular, 90s and early 2000s video game soundtracks when graphics were often not good enough to convey the emotion of a scene and voice acting wasn't ubiquitous - the music had to tell the story and let the player know what the characters were feeling.
